Terms

Last updated 30 September 2026

The short version. Party is a free personal project, offered as-is. Host parties with it, don't use it to harm anyone, and remember that if you host, the people in your room are trusting you with what they type.

What this is

Party is a web app for running live polls, quizzes and games at a gathering. It is run by one person as a personal project, free of charge. It is not a company, it has no support team, and it carries no uptime guarantee. If something breaks during your party, there may be nobody awake to fix it.

Hosting a party

Anyone can sign in with Google and host. By hosting, you agree to the following, which exist because your guests cannot agree to them on their own behalf:

  • Your guests are trusting you. They type their names and answers into a party you created. Tell them what you plan to do with it, and do not collect more than your night actually needs.
  • You handle consent for anyone who cannot give it. If children will be taking part, get a parent or guardian's permission and keep photo and social-handle sharing switched off.
  • Exports are yours to look after. You can export a party as a file. Once it is on your computer it is out of this service's hands and entirely your responsibility.
  • Host links hand over control. A co-host link lets whoever holds it run that party completely. Send it to people you trust, and rotate it if it gets out.
  • Delete parties you are finished with. It is the only way your guests' names and answers go away.

Joining a party

You need no account to join. You choose the name the room sees — it does not have to be your real one. A photo and social handles are optional and off unless you turn them on. What you type is visible to the host and, depending on the question, to the room. Nothing you submit is private from the host.

What not to do

Do not use Party to:

  • harass, bully, threaten or demean anyone, including through question text or uploads;
  • upload or write anything unlawful, sexually explicit involving minors, or that infringes somebody else's rights;
  • impersonate another person in a way intended to deceive;
  • collect personal information from people under false pretences;
  • attack, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or try to reach parties, accounts or data that are not yours;
  • use it as general-purpose file hosting.

Accounts and parties that do these things can be removed without notice. Given that this is a one-person project, enforcement is best-effort and complaint-driven — write to the address below.

Your content

What you write and upload stays yours. You grant only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, show it to the people at your party, and include it in that party's recap and exports. No other use is made of it — it is not published elsewhere, not used for marketing, and not used to train anything.

Availability

Party is provided as-is and as-available, with no warranties of any kind. It may be unavailable, lose data, change, or shut down, at any time and without notice. Do not use it for anything where failure would actually matter, and keep your own copy of anything you need to keep.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of Party, including lost data or a party that did not go to plan.

Ending it

You can stop using Party whenever you like; delete your parties and write to the address below if you want your host account removed. Access may be suspended or withdrawn if these terms are broken, or if the service shuts down.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top will change with them, and continuing to use Party after that means the new version applies.
